Open House

The C.L. Phelps Middle School will be hosting an open house on Tuesday, August 26 from 6:30 till 8:30.

 

Child Care Center

The Ishpeming Public Schools Childcare/Learning Center is accepting registration for the 2008-2009 school year.  The state licensed program is open to all children in the Western Marquette County area who are 3 (and toilet trained) to 12 years of age.  Click here for more information.

 

Summer Hours

Summer hours will begin on Monday, June 9, 2008.  All District Buildings will be open from 7 a.m. till 3 p.m. 

 

High School Library Summer Hours

The Ishpeming High School Library will start summer hours on Monday, June 9, 2008.  Library hours will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The library will be closed from June 16 till June 27 and on July 4.

Kids learn ‘hydroponic’ plant lesson

ISHPEMING — Engulfed by the sweet smell of fresh basil and tomato plants, Kari Lyle, 11, clad in a white lab coat, checks the water level of her sixth-grade class’ hydroponic garden at C.L. Phelps Middle School.


“This is their first semester doing hydroponics,” said Jill Bradford, hydroponic consultant. “Hydroponics is Greek for water laborer, and it’s basically growing plants in water instead of soil.”

Broadcasting class receives recognition

ISHPEMING — Every day during sixth hour at C.L. Phelps Middle School, students get in front of the camera and practice their on-the-air skills.

On Thursday, Ishpeming eighth-graders Esteban Atondo and Tony Williams, both 13, played the anchors, sitting in front of the camera of Panther TV — the school’s all-student produced news channel.
